Seeking an Alternative Family Living (AFL) Provider

Mountain Area Community Services (MACS) is seeking a compassionate, dependable individual or couple to provide Alternative Family Living (AFL) services for a friendly woman in her 40s with Down syndrome. The ideal provider would reside in the South Asheville, Arden, Fletcher, or Hendersonville area and be committed to creating a stable, supportive, family-oriented home environment. The pay for this position is $138 per day.

Qualifications:

• High school Diploma, GED or Equivalent
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Valid Driver’s License with Current Vehicle insurance
• Clean driving record
• Non-smoker
• No children living in the home
• Patient, caring, and reliable
• Ability to support independence, community involvement, and daily living skills
• Experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities is helpful but not required
• Must be able to independently travel to assigned locations as needed
• Able to work flexible hours according to the needs of the services and individual

Direct Service Provider – MARION

Hours are part time with the potential to become full time later on. Hourly wage is $17.50 per hour and up depending on the services provided. This position is both rewarding and will pay you to train!.

Direct Service Provider - MILLS RIVERS / SOUTH ASHEVILLE AREA

We are currently seeking someone to fill the following opening within the Mills River/South Asheville area: Direct Care Provider - This position provides support services for a very capable, well-mannered young female with special needs. This position provides Community Networking in the community. The hours of employment and pay are daytime hours M-Fri up to 40 hours per week at $20.00 per hour.

Personal Assistant/Companion for Special Needs Support

This position would be providing one on one support and companionship for an active young adult male with physical, cognitive and behavioral disabilities. The right candidate will be physically fit, mentally quick, and a skilled, safe driver. Services provided are Supported Employment to assist client with his home-based business of recycling and hauling, and Community Networking to assist him with community integration. The successful candidate will work on Thursdays with an opportunity for some other shifts including overnight shifts episodically throughout the year. Being “handy” and enjoying fixing things and taking things apart are a plus. Smoking is not allowed on-site or at the workplace. The first 6 1/2 + hours a day are paid starting at $24/hour. An additional 1.5-2.5 hours of a normal day start at $20/hour. Increments in pay of $.50/hour will be made every six months for the first two years. Preference is for a male for this particular position. pays you to train!

• Must be physically strong and mentally engaging

• Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. or more
• Should be a handyman of sorts that enjoys tinkering with things
• Must be able to be physically fit to assist with physical transfers and Supported Employment Services
